Oasis of Wellbeing – Reiters Reserve Resort

Where Austria is no longer Hungary and not yet quite Styria, near Bad Tatzmannsdorf in southern Burgenland lies the Reiters Reserve Resort. This magical corner of Austria presents itself as an oasis of wellbeing. The gently undulating landscape, the slopes of which are covered with forests and vineyards, plenty of sunshine and a pleasant climate – all ingredients for a great holiday! The whole area is rightly called the sunniest region, boasting more than 300 sunny days a year.
There are two hotels in the Reiters Reserve holiday resort: the 5-star Reiters Supreme for more demanding clientele, and the 4-star Finest Family hotel for families with children.
Reiters Supreme
Hotel Supreme is a first-class 5-star hotel for individualists. Its spa area is one of the best that Austria has to offer in this regard. With an area of 8 700 m2, the largest private thermal bath in Europe is available exclusively to hotel guests. The spa utilises a spring with a temperature of 33 °C, which rises from a depth of almost 900 metres. The premises are equipped with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gyms, fitness rooms, and a large area of saunas. The large sauna area also has a cosy Ladies Only corner with saunas and a rest room reserved for women only. In short, it is as if made for hedonistic lounging.
Kenshō Spa
This year, Reiters Supreme Hotel launched its newest wellness addition: Kenshō Spa built in traditional Japanese style, inspired by the profound spiritual experience of Zen. A real “place for me” comprises a huge panoramic sauna, 2 onsens (pools with very high temperature) and a natural swimming lake with a feeling of infinity.
Ayurveda
Since last year, an experienced team of specialists from Kerala, India has been working in the hotel under the guidance of Ayurvedic doctor Gopakumar Gopinatha Pillai, who has completed extensive studies at the Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery in India and is a certified Ayurvedic therapist.
Gastronomy
It is not exactly typical for large resorts to pay as much attention to gastronomy as they do at Reiters Supreme Hotel. However, the theme of enjoyment is one of the most important for Karel Reiter – with cuisine taking top priority. This is the reason for the 5 restaurants, each with a different focus. Chef Helmut Gangl and his team prepare a daily 5-course dinner menu including vegan options, served in the Supreme restaurant or in the Winter Garden. Meat lovers will find something special in the Traube restaurant. As a restaurant with delicious steaks, we rely exclusively on our own, naturally raised, grass-fed breed of Angus cattle. Dry steaks are aged on the bone for eight weeks – for the best taste. Those who prefer a buffet should choose the Birdie restaurant, where they can enjoy an extensive buffet. Meals are prepared in the open kitchen right in front of diners’ eyes. Themed evenings are organised here. There is a large selection of salads and warm vegetables. Nikis Bistro day restaurant serves crisp salads, freshly prepared dishes, refreshing drinks, homemade cakes and ice cream creations in a casual atmosphere.
Through the Countryside by Bike
And if you need to clear your head in another way, it’s worth going on a bike trip. All cycle routes are carefully mapped, and cyclists can download all information free of charge to their mobile phones. Bad Tatzmansdorf is surrounded by a network of cycle paths. An interesting example is the B50 – a cycle path for four seasons – which leads directly from Bad Tatzmansdorf to the Gothic castle of Schlaining. Numerous hairpin bends and climbs will appeal especially to experienced cyclists seeking a greater challenge. The B50 is 23 kilometres long. Bicycles can be rented at the hotel. In addition to the golf course and tennis courts, the resort also includes a large riding stable with 20 Lipizzans, the oldest and most famous horse breed in Europe, whose history dates back to the 16th century. Riding lessons with an instructor are also offered.
Reiters Golf & Country Club
A remarkable 18, plus a pleasant 9 with a Golf Academy, all in the midst of hills, forests, orchards and vineyards. The course undulates on the slope below the hotel, offering beautiful scenic views of the countryside, fairy-tale forest nooks and sites that are reminiscent of well-spent childhood holidays. Both 9s of the championship course start and end above the hotel, so in between you can stop at the buffet, relax in the clubhouse or, if the tee time allows, drop in at the hotel for a drink. The course record is held by Alexander Chopard with a score of 65. Alex Čejka also played here, and you can even meet Bernd Wiesberger, who started playing here and who still lives nearby.
Reiters Finest Family
However, if you have children under the age of 16, you cannot enter the Supreme Hotel with them. The second hotel in the area – Family Finest – is simply perfect for you. Ingeniously connected to the Supreme Hotel, this hotel is dedicated to the wellbeing of the whole family. There are three swimming pools, slides, game rooms, a pagoda with its own theatre and cinema. The Family Finest Hotel is all-inclusive, which means that parents can also enjoy the best of the world’s wine production here – at the same time as knowing that their children are well taken care of.
