One Hundred Years of Jitka Klett

Was publishing your own book an important milestone in your life?

So far, I have spread my philosophy and experience through fashion and speaking at various events. I felt an intense interest and it was also one of the reasons why I decided to write. Thanks to the book, I've also left behind a legacy in a completely different form, which allowed me to share my life story and inspire and motivate people through it. It was a process that, including preparations, lasted approximately three years. The book was published in the second half of May, and since then I have already received several positive comments, both from my loved ones and acquaintances, as well as from complete strangers. Therefore, it was not only the publication of the book itself that was significant for me, but also the reactions that it is gradually receiving, because they correspond to the total intention with which I wrote it. I accept this response with gratitude, because we can all inspire each other, the important thing is to arouse interest. 

Did your approach to writing differ from the one you apply when designing clothes?

For me, preparing the book was in a way the same process as designing clothes. In both cases, I let my ideas grow organically. It is probably because I am very spontaneous, authentic, sincere and optimistic. I have nothing to hide or  to be ashamed of, I am interested in new things and I like to learn from people who interest me, which is naturally reflected in all my activities.

What news from Jitka Klett’s fashion world can we look forward to in the coming months?

Although this is not completely new, I am constantly trying to raise the bar for the quality of the above-standard individual services that we provide at the Jitka Klett Couture fashion salon. I have also for a long time been involved in charity and in the practical education of Design students. In Autumn, I am preparing a non-traditional fashion show in Milan and Prague, and I am also already dealing with an important event that will take place in Paris next year. Apart from fashion, for the 30th anniversary, in addition to the book, I also gave myself glasses of original design, which I created with the Harrachov Czech glass factory, and which we will officially present in September 2024. 

 How does your family perceive your workload?

My husband is just as busy with work as I am, so I have a lot of support from him and we are set up on mutual understanding and respect. However, no matter how busy we are during the week, we insist on at least spending the weekends together as a family, including our two children, another family and friends.
